Terms & policy

MarkSmith provides independent marking feedback for IB coursework (Internal Assessment, Individual Oral, and Extended Essay). We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO).

Our service offers educational feedback only. It does not guarantee any particular grade, diploma outcome, or examiner decision.

You must submit only your own original work. You are responsible for complying with your school’s academic integrity rules and the IB’s academic honesty policy.

We will not retain, publish, display, or use your submitted work as an example, marketing material, or training data unless you give us explicit written consent.

Uploaded files and submission details are used solely to deliver marking for your order. We do not sell your personal information.

Do not submit the same Google Doc that is linked to Google Classroom or shared with your teacher for official submission. Make a separate copy (File → Make a copy), share the copy with commenting access, and submit that link.

You are responsible for ensuring the link works and that markers can comment on the document. If the document is not shared with commenting access when we begin marking, fulfilment may take up to one week while we obtain access or work around the restriction.

All marking and student-facing feedback is provided by qualified human markers. We do not use artificial intelligence to mark your work, assign grades, or write comments that you receive.

AI may be used internally only for quality-check suggestions reviewed by our team. See our AI policy for details.

You must declare an accurate word count. Markers may not read, assess, or comment on content beyond the word count you provide.

After payment is confirmed, marking and feedback are delivered on your Google Doc (comments) and to the email address you provide at checkout. Ensure your email is correct — this is where we send your marked document and summary feedback.

Feedback is due within 48 Swiss working hours of confirmed payment. The turnaround clock runs on Swiss working days only. Weekends and public holidays observed in Switzerland—including those applicable in the cantons we follow—are excluded. Orders placed on a Friday, before a public holiday, or ahead of a long break resume on the next Swiss working day, so delivery may take longer than 48 calendar hours while the working-hour commitment still applies.

If marking is late by less than two Swiss working days beyond that window, we offer a one-time 50% credit toward a future MarkSmith order (locked to your account, single use, valid for three months). If marking is four or more Swiss working days late in total beyond the turnaround window, that order is treated as free.

All marking decisions, estimated marks, and feedback provided through MarkSmith are final. We do not offer re-marking disputes, appeals, or grade guarantees through this service.

Prices are shown at checkout. Payment is processed securely via Stripe Checkout as a one-time charge.

Marking begins after payment is confirmed. Refunds are not guaranteed once marking has started, except where required by applicable law or under the late-delivery credits in section 6.

MarkSmith and its markers are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the service, including academic penalties, missed deadlines, or diploma outcomes.

Our total liability for any claim relating to a single order is limited to the amount you paid for that order.

The service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied.

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
